Sometime in the 1800’s two Indians were picking berries near the edge of town, when a group of angry white townspeople found them and dragged them back to the center of town. They were accused of raping and killing a young white girl and they were hanged outside the local tavern. A few years later, a white man confessed to raping and killing the young girl.
