Pennsylvania, the Keystone State, rich in our country's pivotal history, has seen many bloody gruesome deaths. Many men, women, and children have lost their lives to war, disease, dismemberment, and accidents. From early on in Pennsylvania's history, the Native Americans have had an impact on our state. Many of the cities, towns, waterways, townships, and counties have been named from the tribes who resided here long before settlers forced them west. The Susquehanna, Monongahela, Schuylkill, and the Delaware Rivers; Nanticoke, Shawnee, Lehigh, and Erie to name a few, are all names from the American Indians who were here first. Pennsylvania has had many gruesome, bloody battles and lives lost from the east coast of Philadelphia to the west coast of Pittsburgh. Civil War General, General Braddock, his army was slaughtered on the Monongahela River. During the Civil War, many men lost their lives in Gettysburg. Gettysburg was considered the bloodiest battle of the Civil War. Fighting for the freedom from slavery, our country at war was evolving at the same time. Pennsylvania, a state with land rich for farming, cities full of manufacturing plants, and shipyards spilling over with textiles, provided the: food, weapons, ammunition, ships, iron and steel that were vital to the war efforts. Nearly 350,000 Pennsylvanians served in the Civil War. Many died in battles, bloody dismemberment, infection, starvation, dysentery, and brutal accidents. These violent battles of the war were over the brutal treatment of slavery. The wealthy southern wealthy plantation owners wanted slavery; the north believed in equality and believed everyone in our country should be free. This war lasted for years until it ended with the bloodiest, most gory, three (3) day Battle of Gettysburg. Three long days, an awful bloody 50,000 deaths, countless injured, the most brutal and violent fighting had come to a climax. The indescribable stench of death in the air from the summer heat burns in the souls of men who survived. The tens of thousands of men, tortured souls left behind on the battlefield. Gettysburg, on the most beautiful day, will make the hair stand up on the back of your neck, awaken your senses, for you can feel the spirits enslaved in the purgatory of war, still wandering the battlefield, lost for all eternity. History of war is not our only hell, coal mining and manufacturing at an all-time high, was party to the industrial revolution. Many deaths on the floors of the manufacturing plants occurred daily. There were no safety devices on machinery. Many men, women, and children were at risk. Once injured, you may have never returned. Many souls do not know if you lived or died. And the coal mining industry was just as horrible. If you heard the whistle blow during the middle of the day, you knew there was a mine collapse. Women and children gathered at the entrance of the mines to see who is still alive, and/or who would be widowed. Many miners suffocated under the weight of the rocks, lack of oxygen, or gases exposed during mining which prevented them from breathing. Miners, with their faces, black as the coal they were mining, worked from sun up until sun down, and did not see the light of day six months out of the year. The cold, damp mines, gave way to illnesses you could never recover from. Even in World War 2, the number of Pennsylvanians serving, was extremely high. One in every seven men serving was from Pennsylvania. More war, although not on our home soil, the ones who returned were never the same. With all these people also came some of the most notorious prisons for the most dangerous bank robbers, murderers, and thieves. Tortured through experimentation, rehabilitation through solitary confinement, labor in the system, has enslaved the souls to the most evil, sick, revengeful, and cruel followers of the under-lord below. A 160-year-old barn is home to the Den of Darkness and its grotesque inhabitants. Built during the 1800s, the barn was converted into a farmhouse, and then a hotel. Tragically, over 100 guests of the hotel perished in a fire that left their anguished souls behind. Three floors of dark halls and narrow passageways accommodate the many occupants as their shrieks of terror harass you on your journey. Be forewarned- they want your soul to stay forever, too. You will stumble upon numerous torture devices so heinous they are seemingly ripped from the Dark Ages. See why the Field’s residents enjoy when misfortunate visitors trespass on their camp. What happens when Rednecks mix gas, guns, and fire? You will discover the answer first-hand. Lethal arcs of electricity from a giant Tesla coil will astound you as you pass just inches from the lightning. Haunted House in the Hollow, Sleepy Hollow Hayride in Newtown, Pennsylvania - The House in the Hollow is a ghost story come to life. Known for High Tech effects, it is run by Theater people but, only ghosts inhabit it today. Malfate Manor, its tragic history began with the Malfate family who originally built the now haunted mansion with seventeen rooms, including the cellars with see-through ghosts appearing and vanishing before your eyes. The ancient graveyard beside the house is choked in perpetual fog, and is the only way out. Since then it has been used as a hotel, a funeral parlor, and even was an asylum for a few years. In every case disaster struck. Sleepy Hollow Hayride will take you into the hollow for a 1¼-mile excursion past deserted farm buildings and through acres of woods, fields and the farm cemetery. Keep your eyes open. The cornfields and autumn foliage--so beautiful by day--have an unsettling eeriness at night. Especially when walking through the large Field of Fright. We dare not mention the many horrors that been reported by those who return. Beware of the headless horseman if you hear the hooves of his horse approaching the wagon. It has been said the ghost of Krazy Karl still drives the old farm combine. Be sure to keep your loved ones close to you at all times.

Through the industrialization of Pennsylvania, although the land was cursed, a wealthy man purchased this land and built a factory and mansion, to flaunt his wealth. Unusual unexplained occurrences haunted the workers at the factory. Death from freak accidents occurred weekly. High production and seven days a week hours drove the employees into a crazy mayhem and brought them to an unusual brutality to the owner and his family.
